I made Alex a bento for lunch today:

That's a tasty lunch of three bbq pork onigiri with a nori 'i <3 u' , more bbq pork (homemade!), grilled peppers, carrot sticks, hard boiled quail eggs, and swiss cheese hearts, all on a bed of napa cabbage. I'll be making more of these throughout the quarter. I might need a better camera for them, haha.

Hey, I actually did stuff! I saw Madagascar 2 with Jenn and Alison, and things got interesting after our late night Meijer romp...

[19:44] Aanrdios: so, we turned around and figured we'd try our luck with the guard at 3, or call mr maxwell and ask for a new rendezvous spot

[19:48] Aanrdios: i stayed in the car, so as not to be incriminating
[19:49] Aanrdios: maxwell took the drugs with his pocket, as to not leave prints
[19:49] Aanrdios: he didn't have to money for jenn, so she requested a favor of him instead
[19:50] Aanrdios: of course, i wasn't allowed to know the details of this favor
[19:50] Aanrdios: after a few mintues, we left and drove back quickly, taking a different route than we had taken there

And for the record, we were delivering Aleve to Jenn's friend. We got some free Advil at the theater, but apparently that wasn't good enough. The story sounds better with embellishment though.

Thanksgiving amusements

Highlights of the holiday thus far:

After my plane landed, I came home to a freshly prepared cut of fish, miso soup, sesame broccoli, and tsukemono, courtesy of my dad. =D
They're giving me the old storage chest that used to be in my room, thus knocking one thing off my xmas list. =D
They've also promised me a couch and an armoire. =D
Our turkey dismembered itself in the oven.
Our dinner guest was a really cool old guy who, though military service, lived in Japan for 7 years. Also, he asked a 10 year old to take care of his 10 porch cats (they're neighborhood strays he feeds). He assured this by threatening to break the kid's leg if he didn't. <3
While mom made me take a virus off the computer. She had unplugged the internet, saying she didn't want any viruses 'sneaking in' when the computer was off. <3 parents sometimes.
Ohio ice cream. <3 Illinois ice cream sucks.
They forgot to put the wine away. I'm fixing that problem. =D
My dad cut too much ginger for the sweet potatoes. Thus, homemade gyoza tomorrow.

Hey, I have internet again! Woo!

So in case you missed anything in the past........4?...5? months, here's what happened:

I took summer classes
I went to Ohio for a month
I went to Cedar Point
I became exceptionally broke
I turned 22
School started for the 5th time
I became exceptionally un-broke
Alex moved in with me
I built a new computer

And that's that. 22 is boring, school got old after the first week, and my huge paycheck hasn't come yet. Even when it does, I'm only getting out of debt. No monies for me lol.
The good news is that so far, living with Alex is fantastically easy. We have two rooms - (my old) bedroom, and the office. It works out nice, since there's plenty of space, two closets, two bathrooms, and now no one is stuck with the small room. Except Tilly, but she likes it.
Also, my new computer is working like a dream. (I can do homework at home now!!) I upgraded my old compaq to a new motherboard, new quad-core processor, and a new HD video card. In the process, i had to go out and buy a new case, new ram, and a new dvd burner, as my new stuff didn't work with the old stuff. Basically, I have two computers now. The new one looks like a rave in a box. I haven't put the graphics card in yet, as it's a little confusing. When I tried to install it, my computer just kept re-booting. Clearly it hates me. Ann is supposed to come over tomorrow and help with that. She'll get a meat pie.

Oh, and I made meat pies. They taste of yum.

Going to the Feast this weekend, might bring back pictures.

Making fun if Michael Phelps is too easy and I should stop.

Hi Everyone,

As many of you have heard the hours we keep for Bluelight are many and sometimes irregular, so plan accordingly.

Officially, we are meeting that first Monday, June 16th. But after that it will be Wednesday, Friday, and Saturdays, from 9-4. These hours may end up varying as we can't all animate and edit at the same time. So people should also expect that they will need to sign up for camera time (or whatever needs to be done) and come in at other times.

Right now we are still working on procuring a space to work and shoot that students can have access to w/o me needing to be there. I'll let you know where that is as soon as its finalized.

I don't think I've ever been so scared and so stressed out in my life. I'm slowly but surely approaching a massive changing point in my life, and fear of the unknown is hitting me, and hard. To top it off, I'm currently juggling my preparation with keeping up the present. I have to be a good student. A good worker. A good girlfriend. A good roommate. A good freelance animator. A good daughter. A good friend. It's fucking hard to be seven things at once and not cut my dreams in half and sell myself short.
A friend of mine just got a job working at Pixar. Freaking Pixar. Plus, she told me that I need to come work there with her, meaning she can work some magic, twist some arms, and say a few good words to make it happen. Okay, I'm convinced, where do I sign up? Oh right, I need a portfolio and experience and shit. About that. I can get you the shit, just give me a few hours and some prunes.
I've been meaning to get my act together for years now. I have the resources, I have the talent, hell, I even have the ambition now. I just don't have the time. It sucks. I know the only reason I can't be a badass animator is if I don't try to be. And lately, I've been doing a lot of not trying. Every assignment I turn in for my classes? Half assed and done the day before. Can't use those, they're unfinished, unpolished, and thus suck. Things I do on my own time? Nonexistant.
Why? Because I've been spending my time trying to keep the world together and keep everyone happy. I'm going to end up like my mother if I keep this up - a well-liked person, half dead and overworked at 50, watching their dreams fade away as death approaches. No thank you, I'll pass.
Long story short, it's time for action. I've been ready for this for years now, and goddammit, it's going to happen. The problem is no longer the lack of resources, lack of a decent major (well...maybe it is), or the world telling me to just 'sit tight and wait'. It's the time. I don't have it, so something has to go. Preferably a few things. School? No, can't really cut that. Seeing my friends? Already did. Alex? I'd rather not. Work? I have to pay my bills somehow. Guess I'm screwed.
I could just wait and go to grad school to make a portfolio, but I'd rather not. I'm so sick of being a student. I'm sick of going to work, then having it follow me everywhere. I want the free time that can only be aquired in the working world. I'm overdue for it, dammit. Plus, it seems really stupid to be in school for 4+ years, and to walk out with nothing. But I suppose that's at least partially DePaul's failing, since I know it's not just me that this happens to.

I signed up for a portfolio review in June. That's 5 weeks from now. I have 5 weeks to come up with a showable portfolio. Think I can do it? I graduate in less than a year, at which point I need to be doing something CG for a company. Think I can do it?

I really want to go to Pixar.

You bring me extensive chilly weather, eat my past and future paychecks in one fell swoop, and bombard me last minute with piles upon piles of schoolwork.

And yet I'm so not bothered, it's not even worth complaining about. October has left me with several wonderful memories and gothic trinkets (which really do make things better. C'mon, I get to drink my tea out of a skull now, it's AWESOME), and now all I have to do is blitz through the end of the quarter before a blissfull December begins.
So I feel like I'm failing my classes. So I'm so dead broke I'm laughing at myself because I'm eating ketchup sandwiches and beef jerky. So the windows in my room don't close all the way and it's fucking freezing in here all the time. So I'm never home long enough to feel like I live here. So I still haven't really moved all my stuff in yet. So I miss the bus pretty much every day on the way to work. So I'm sick.

So what. I feel at peace, I'm walking with a smile on my face, and I'm in love. Everything else will be resolved in time. I'll wait.

I don't really care that I have crap going on, for the first time since I was Kyoto, I'm truely happy. To my friends, my roommates, and my Alex, thank you. You're all amazing.

I can has a schedule....maybe i think?

So...scheduling is always an eye-opening headache for me. Aside from recently learning about the addition of a new Animation major (which is cool, cause no more DC!!!!), I have found out that (1) the production class i'm in now (which I DESPISE) isn't going to count for anything, (2) I have to take/place out of bullshit ISP math, (3) I still have a crapton of stuff left to do in my major, as I've been taking crappy gen-eds for years now, (4) said major courses are sparingly offered, and as a result of this, I can't really fullfill all my requirements until winter of NEXT YEAR WTF.

So...while I'm giving up on the idea that I can just sign up for classes and take them like a regular student, here's what I gots.
